The last time my local OTF studio did the mile benchmark I was still trying to get back to where I was pre-covid so I was alternating between jogging and power walking (I just went for however long I could before taking a quick power walk to allow myself to catch my breath) and then our coach came up to us and told me I could either do the benchmark as a power walker or jogger/runner and not both.
